Oggun is the orisha of iron, creator of tools and knives. He is a fierce warrior and the patron for anyone who works with metals. According to Yoruba, Oggun sentenced himself to never sleep or rest as long as the world was turning, for this the work of mankind never ceases, while half of the population is asleep the other half is helping the world to advance. Oggun is worshipped for his force to keep the world moving, his protective nature and his ability to spark ingenuity in people’s minds.
