Heimdall is a Norse god in Scandinavian mythology known as the ever-vigilant guardian of the gods. He stands as the watchman of the rainbow bridge, Bifrost, that connects the realm of gods, Asgard, to the world of mortals, Midgard. He is endowed with incredible senses, enabling him to hear and see vast distances and even perceive occurrences in other realms. Heimdall is often depicted carrying a horn, Gjallarhorn, which he will blow at the onset of Ragnarok, the prophesized cataclysmic battle that will lead to the destruction and rebirth of the world.
